This is a bromance movie with less romance and more drama to our ears. You can say it’s a Nicholas Sparks ripoff all you want, but it’s quite good since it was based from the book by Ben Sherwood.
At first, we thought that Zac Efron sucks at acting after High School Musical. However, he proves his worthiness by playing straight from his heart. In short, he’s excellent not because of his charm, but because he steps in to a whole new level. Aside from him, Ray Liotta, Kim Basinger, Amanda Crews and Charlie Tahan perform very well. The only funniest and most memorable scene is the rain surfing scene … on a garbage lid.
Although the overall story is almost as perfect as the book (with slight changes), the impact is not fully developed. In other words, it doesn’t impress enough for the audience since some scenes are predictable.
