Looks like we get ourselves a holiday bloodfest in the name of “Black Christmas”. It may be one of the underrated horror movies of all time but I consider it a unique one because of many nostalgic factors. I know “Peeping Tom” revolutionized the art of first-person point of view shot but this one perfected it with flying colors.
Sgt. Nash is stupid, Lois Lane is a foul-mouthed ashtmatic bitch, Mrs. Mac is alcoholic, Mr. Harrison is conservative, Peter is an asshole and the most mysterious character of all, Billy. Many of you complain about his lack of back story and true identity but that is exactly what horror is all about -- finding mystery of unrevealed events.
The infamous obscene phone call precedes When A Stranger Calls and Scream slightly satirizes it. I don’t expect a nice ending because I might spoil the party.
Overall, this is a perfect slasher film for me and it is highly recommended for Christmas.
