Who would have thought that every Disney film has death scenes that end up happily ever after and “Old Yeller” is one of them?
First of all, it is a family movie full of joy and sadness, yet most people, including yours truly, are little to no familiar of Fred Gipson’s book that turns into this adaptation. Yes, I heard that there’s a sequel that is also based on his book but unfortunately, “Savage Sam” receives less reputation than Old Yeller.
Among the characters in this movie, I feel sorry for the dog’s owner, Mr. Sanderson, for letting him go in exchange of Arliss’s horny toad, although he sets him free. Also, it is Travis’s fault for not shooting him after he got bitten by the rabid wolf.
As expected, the climax is the most heartwarming, tear-dropping and saddest moment in cinema history. I wish I have a Confederate dollar.
